Grade 6 Camp

The Year 6 camp will provide the students with an exciting, rewarding and interesting experience of Melbourne life.

Even though your child may have already been to Melbourne, going together as a group is an experience which they will never forget. As a learning community, we always look forward to this experience.

We usually stay at the Miami Hotel, Hawke Street, West Melbourne.

Note - this itinerary could be subject to changes.

Day 1
The students will meet at Waurn Ponds station and take a morning train up to Southern Cross station.

Then travel by metro train out to the Melbourne Zoo. Students are allowed to venture around the zoo in their peer groups to investigate the many animals and species the zoo has to offer. The afternoon allows students to settle in their rooms before walking to dinner at a restaurant in the CBD (Captain Melville restaurant).

After dinner the students travel by tram to Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre (MSAC) for a wipeout session run by the MSAC staff.

Day 2

Involves the students exploring the Queen Victoria market in their teacher groups. The students are permitted a small amount of money to spend and can choose to spend it here if they wish.

After lunch the students have opportunities to explore sights such as the Melbourne Museum, The M.C.G, the National Gallery, Docklands Stadium or listen to guest speakers from The Big Issue.

After dinner down at the Docklands precinct the students then take a flight on the Melbourne Star followed by ice skating at the O'Brien Group Arena.

Day 3

The last day allows students to explore the many wonders of the Melbourne CBD. Popular landmarks include Bourke Street shopping, Hosier Lane, Melbourne Central or the State Library.

The students also participate in a session at the Australian Centre of the Moving Image (ACMI).

After this is lunch in Chinatown before a train from Southern Cross back to Waurn Ponds.

An exhausting but thoroughly enjoyable experience by both teachers and students.
