Early in Term 1 we hold an information session for parents to share important housekeeping information as well as giving an insight into our unique school philosophy. This also offers the chance for parents to ask questions and meet with the Foundation teachers, as well as senior staff.
During Term 1, new Foundation students have the first seven Wednesdays as 'rest days', when they don't come to school. This allows them to adjust and adapt to the routines of school without becoming overly tired.
Each child is requested to attend a one hour assessment session on one of these Wednesdays with the teaching staff to complete baseline testing in Literacy and Numeracy.
We also offer home visits on these Wednesdays, when children have the opportunity to share their interests at home with their homeroom teacher, for a short 15-20 minute visit.
This offers teaching staff an opportunity to gain a real insight into each individual child, which aids engagement once back at school, as well as giving families the chance to ask questions and better get to know teachers.
